Importance of Giving
As Muslims, we are encouraged to give charity and help those who are less fortunate throughout the year, but especially during Ramadan. The Quran reminds us of the importance of giving in Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 271:
“If you disclose your charitable expenditures, they are good; but if you conceal them and give them to the poor, it is better for you, and He will remove from you some of your misdeeds [thereby]. And Allah, with what you do, is [fully] Acquainted.”
Additionally, the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said in a hadith narrated by Bukhari and Muslim:
“The believer’s shade on the Day of Resurrection will be his charity.”
